One word. Lower case. thatwasthen. What started as two UCLA students and two acoustic guitars has since evolved into a bluesy beast of a 5 piece with stadium rock ambitions. A band born and bred on the Southern California music scene, TWT has held residencies and rocked famous clubs of LA’s Sunset Strip including the House of Blues, the Key Club, the Whisky-a-go-go and the The Viper Room. They’ve played with artists such as Marcy Playground, Fountains of Wayne, and even Shwayze.

thatwasthen seeks to stake their claim on some new sonic territory by fusing their own unique brands of classic rock and modern/alternative rock. Think Foo Fighters and Led Zeppelin expectorating into the spittoon of a hot and dirty saloon. Combine this with a keen pop sensibility and you’ve got the one and only tee double-you tee- LA rock for Generation Z.

The name thatwasthen is something of a manifesto amongst the members of the group. It’s well known as the first half of the phrase “that was then, this is now,” but the meaning of the expression is much more significant to these musicians. “thatwasthen” recalls the passage of time, and not only harkens back to their classic roots but also reminds them to never stop improving or looking ahead. This attitude pervades everything they produce, as TWT prides themselves on putting on an energetic, impassioned live show for their fans, and on being the best band that they can be.
