Going to California
I was born in Bermuda, grew up on the east coast, and now I live in California. It wasn’t an easy transition to make, leaving all of my friends, family, and band-mates past and present, but it was completely worth it. I’ve grown more in the past two years than any point in my life. I’ve met so many amazing and talented people out here. None of this would have happened if I had just accepted my situation and disregarded the urge to change my life for the better. This is what the song “Going to California“ is about to me.
Led Zeppelin – “Going to California“
Lyrics:
Spent my days with a woman unkind, Smoked my stuff and drank all my wine.
Made up my mind to make a new start, Going To California with an aching in my heart.
Someone told me there’s a girl out there with love in her eyes and flowers in her hair.
Took my chances on a big jet plane, never let them tell you that they’all are the same.
The sea was red and the sky was grey,I wondered how tomorrow could ever follow today.
The mountains and the canyons started to tremble and shake
as the children of the sun began to awake.
Seems that the wrath of the Gods
Got a punch on the nose and it started to flow;
I think I might be sinking.
Throw me a line if I reach it in time
I’ll meet you up there where the path
Runs straight and high.
To find a queen without a king,
They say she plays guitar and cries and sings… la la la la
Ride a white mare in the footsteps of dawn
Tryin’ to find a woman who’s never, never, never been born.
Standing on a hill in my mountain of dreams,
Telling myself it’s not as hard, hard, hard as it seems.
My music is coming with me
when i die
my poems, words
they will come with me
when i cry
my mother, god
they come and lift me
when i sigh
my girl, world
have come and kissed me
my music’s coming with me
i can write it into existence
i can make it vanish in a snap
i can twist it, bend it, lift, suspend it
mend it, send it back
when i long
then my stars
make it so
when ‘im wrong
then it’s ours
this ancient poem
if i’m strong
in the hour
of the great unknown
then my music will come with me
i can write it into existence
i can make it vanish in a snap
i can twist it, bend it, lift, suspend it
mend it, send it back

Surviving without money
As part of my daily routine, I was Stumbling along the interwebs and came across an inspirational article about a 48 year old man named Suelo. Suelo lives in the Utah desert with no money, house, or income. Living off the land is second nature to this guy. He drinks tea made from Juniper leaves and chefs up roadkill, lizards and wild onions. The best part of this article was a quote from Suelo:
“I’ll do what creatures have been doing for millions of years for retirement,” he says. “Why is it sad that I die in the canyon and not in the geriatric ward well-insured? I have great faith in the power of natural selection. And one day, I will be selected out.” Until then, think of him like the raven, cleaning up the carcasses the rest of us leave behind. [Style.com]
